fibrecamp is about re-using unused and empty spaces that often have hi-speed internet connections available to them either internally or nearby via microwave, satellite, cable or as is the case with our first location – fibre optic

this notion that we build super fast internet connectivity and wire up business premises and expect business and people come and fully utilise them is a crazy idea – often times business premises sit empty across our towns and cities.

after attending numerous podcamps and barcamps stateside and doing the social media circle jerk of connecting avatars together with people i decided that reactivating our local communities, business or social would become paramount. communicating value, time and engagement in a realtime, on demand world are ever increasing challenges for us to deal with on a day to day basis. our food is imported our services outsourced. where do we fit into that equation. what are we making, where do our skills lay. how do we live.

fibrecamp is about utilizing space in an optimized way, to allow and reconnect a locality around an area to create pockets of hyperlocal community that are notified of each other and approaches they are taking with their business or services. to optimize the local experience of where you live and work.

fibrecamp now names each of their locations. the original fibrecamp location became cellar54 (named after the original name for the basement) with the second space becoming cleantech after the buildings existing name, the european headquarters will take on a suitable name for the area yet all of the locations are powered by fibrecamp.
